Will e34 S38 M5 flywheel work for manual trans swap?

Recently picked up an excellent condition flywheel off a ‘90s era M5 for a song, thinking it would work for my ‘74 e9 auto/manual upgrade.
I’m planning on running triple webers, and have both the original m30 engine and an m90 from early euro 6’er that is already manual flywheel.
Should/can I use the e34 M5 flywheel on the m90 engine? The m90 was L-Jet originally.
I have a Getrag 5-spd, CoupeKing mount assembly, and all the ancillary parts, hopefully, ready to go.
Also, would e28/e24 M5/M6 clutch assembly be the way to go on this? I have the standard clutch setup,,, would it be sufficient for a sunny day weekend driver car?

Thanks for any input!
Steve

I have no idea how you can use the M90 with carbs, but I had an early Euro 6 with an M90 and I say go M90.

e34 m5 has a dual mass flywheel where as the e28 and earlier cars use a single mass flywheel. The e28 m5 flywheel can be used with the m30 manual flywheel which is what you want.

If you want a heavier flywheel, the late E28 535i flywheel works too. It’s 22lbs. I have several of both early and late (with or without the motronic 1.0 pin) and can ship out a freshly surfaced one. Wouldn’t run a dual mass, personally.

The E28 M5 clutch has more clamping force than the 535i clutch and as such more pedal effort. Unless you’re making considerably more power than a stock 10:1 M30 or an M90, I wouldn’t bother with the M5 clutch. M30 discs really never wear out, the pressure plates get stiff.

I guess I’d go with the M90 you have. Would be a great motor.

Thanks for reply. See pics, pretty sure this is single mass.

Thanks, Don-
I know it fits. Not a concern there.
Just after insight from those more knowledgeable than myself on this flywheel / config with the triples.
This was included in a Parts Lot and, occasionally, I’ve been guilty of gathering spares I may never use.

- Be well, amigo!

M5 e34 flywheel is unique in the bmw world.
no other model used it.

You will need a M throw out bearing
