How much are a pair of NOS Zeniths worth ?

I popped into my local dealership on the off chance they might be able to get rebuild kits for the carbs on my 74 CSA , and the parts guy produced a pair of NOS twin Zeniths that have been on the shelf for years ! They want £500 / $800
For them, good deal vs the cost of rebuild kits and associated rebuilding ? The vehicle has been off the road for a few years and they need doing. They where not able to source rebuild kits but I'm sure they can be found.
Is this a deal not to be missed ?

NOS ! my god !
you can find rebuild kits, no problem for that, but i would buy those NOS carbs at once !
 
You still might have to rebuild such an old NOS carb, as rubber parts only last so long. Anyway, might be your one and only chance to buy NOS carbs.
 
I will buy them at once ! and hope that the rubbers have stood the test of time there was a metal tag on them with the number 1262765A doesn't look like a BMW number any ideas ?

Which colour is the tag? The colour code tells you for which engine the carbs are set up for (jets etc.)

those are the identifying codes from zenith, but i can not find that number

the most similar one is 1262769 with brown long tag, it belongs to carb, with heat sensitive bypass starter 2800 and 3 litre

theoretically for a csa you should have the carb with ref, 1255951 violet tag
 
I think it was a red tag but I'm not 100% sure which colour would be best for an automatic 74 car ?
 
Science says you should buy a single NOS carb and use a rebuilt carb for the other.
That way you will settle the question for good.
 
I assume the jetting could be changed to suit my engine as long as the carb bodies were the same ?
It may have been Violet I will have to take another look at them

the tag colours are not easy to differenciate
but the number is very clear
not sure about that, the question is that if they are not the right ones, as you say you might prepare a good set using the bodies and all mechanisms combined with your present jets
 
For the carb experiment in question, would not a third carb be needed (attached to manifold) as the constant since we have a dual carb system?
