Have you considered buying the newer BMW issued loose white binder parts books? These could be had new from Carl Nelson for about $80 a set. These larger formatted books contain all the info and illustrations as the orange book, as well as any superseded parts numbers. All pages have been transferred over from the original factory microfiche (same as orange books). I have both the orange and the white books, but I do prefer to use the orange manuals due to their smaller size that facilitates easier handling.
Here is a page from the "white manuals" showing the front bumper parts. The loose individual binders pages do allow one to remove any of them, so they can be scanned or photo copied. This can come in handy sometimes. Should have scanned an English page instead.

there was a set of orange books that sold on ebay yesterday for $63. i was going to try to take them and sell them to someone herein for what i paid for them ... but unfortunately i didn't get back home in time to win the auction (actually i forgot) ... sorry Bob.

Bert is right about the beauty of taking a page out to scan or copy ... the downside is that in most cases the picture is on one page and the english information is on the back side.

I just told La Jolla to throw a set of manuals in the box they are about to ship me.
I hope to get these greasy and treat them poorly!
i have the orange books scanned in a cd rom, so i can make copies if required
