There is a '77 633csi for sale for cheap here, I was wondering if there is anything special about these early coupes?

Brakes, drive-line, odds and ends?

Anyway, I will post more information if this is something of interest.

Thanks,

MF

Unfortunately very little. The early e24 chassis is based on the e12 sedan which also doesn't share much with the e9 platform. The engine and gearbox (to a degree) are compatible along with certain switchgear- late e9 power window switches comes to mind although they are chrome rather than black as on the e24.

Very thoughtful response, I will keep this in mind--thanks.

Is the 633CSi beyond repair?
It is a great car.

Runs, drives, White, picture of three sides only--no picture of drivers side so I am not exactly sure what is going on with the car....

Its located in WA.

I agree and have an early 6 series on my want list, probably a 630 variety.

Cheers,
MF

i can tell you something that i would like to have from an early e24 or an e12 ... the analog clock with the a/c fan switch ring around it. i always liked that composition. didn't like it so much with the digital clock,

Maybe some PNW coupe guys can fish this out and divi out the parts to the rest of us.

There may only be a hand full of parts for an original coupe....but I am sure there are many parts if you were looking to upgrade.

Off the top of my head, I would think:

1) window motors
2) visors ?
3) tool kit

diff
brake booster
arm rests
map pockets
Turnsignal relay
calipers front and rear
wiper motor
there are over 100 items that cross over...

Wiper motor? That's handy to know.

How about the brake master? LHD masters are available but RHD aren't so hopefully an E24 fits.

Don't get me wrong, I would be all over this in a heartbeat, its a timing issue for me at this point, but if there are coupe folks that can reach this car, there are loads of good parts as this is a complete car. You could probably also sell the rear seats to a 2002 guy.

Anyways, its not the only one built so not the end of the world.....yet!

MF

Ya, I checked. Very little will go on an E9.

Front rotors, but not calipers.

The whole rear brake setup however will fit on an E9 compared acc. to realoem. Ditto the rear differential.

Nope, the armrests won't. Maybe some of the armrest parts.

And of course, the engine (M30B??) and trans (Getrag 265) should should interchange.

teahead, you would be wrong on the early armrests ... they are the same. later armrest won't fit. trust our friend SFDon ... he knows from experience what will fit. no idea why you think the front calipers wouldn't fit ... a lot of people on this list have used them.
