The aux air valve on my Csi is starting to fail.
the part numbers 11 61 1 256 467 and 11 61 1 255 284 are NLA from BMW.
The alternative valve from a e24 11 61 1 263 200 is still available from BMW but is a bit expensive ($280.00 or so)
Does anyone have any idea for an alternate solution?

This has recently been raised by me but no link thingy ....upshot is that Bosch can possibly remanufacture ,but not cheap ..about 300euros . Suggest you try and get second hand off say injected E3 but don't know if they are plentiful in UK . The other filter part is NLA as you state but many use a "pod" filter from k&n . PM me if need be . Cheers, Simon

Hi Aussiecsi!
How did it worked out for you in the other mentioned thread?
There were no "case closed" post in that thread :-)

Hi Stefan , I tried to repair mine but in the end it failed to work at all .Fortunately , a friend had a spare one which he kindly made available . Cheers, Simon

Air slide.

It's amazing what a bit of carb cleaner and WD40 can do. Checked operation ( in freezer wide open, room temp about 40% closed and 80*C fully closed) Result. Fully serviceable again.

I wrote a bit too soon. Just been out for a (spirited) drive and the air valve is not closing completely, (idle at about 1000-1050) Plastic bag over valve and the idle is correct at 850-900. SO it look like a good clean out of the water ways around the valve is the next job to do!
