Steering linkage questions

I am replacing the tie rods and center linkage (was a beotch to get apart). The manual says to soak the new ball joints in oil to prevent water from messing them up, does this still apply to modern day ball joints?

Also, what are the toe in specs for alignment, I could find 1mm in Autobooks but no info elsewhere, anyone know? TIA.

you are late in the season for this.
Most folks soak the day after thanksgiving in the parking lot in peanut oil....

Here is the alignment sheet from my car to give you another data point. The specs ranges are in the upper corners of each box. The measured value is the larger text in the center of the boxes. This was for a 72 3.0 CS.

Thanks for this, looks like 1mm +- a little is the number. The centerlink appears to be the one needing to be oiled, these pads are on them:
