Alan,

i am only aware of a light in the main glove box - i don't see it show up on the wiring diagram.

This is about cars
nothing else

Alan,

Without the owners the cars have no purpose, we are a community which shares it's passion and knowledge without expecting anything in return. We appreciate and expect civility and courtesy in our conversations. If that is not your expectation than what is? If every discussion becomes an argument then we don't need a Forum. Your style can be confrontational and it seems that in many of your questions you expect prompt answers. We share what we know but we don't have every answer.

I think they are still available, but the quality isn't that great and the ni-cads wear down quickly. I think they were also an option on earlier Coupes and they definitely are White and have a BMW logo on them. I have two, but I think the sockets are only available used...

It may be a late option because the engineers were bickering for years on whether the fuse box light should be fused.

It was finally settled by a legendary BMW employee named Yossarian.

pretty cool the way
a simple comment generates
so much information

Yes, very cool that people were so busy they forgot to tell you this should be in parts.

I'm kidding!

I have half a dozen white bmw flashlights, NOS, and by NOS I mean batteries are probly 30 years old and dead.

I would be interested to see pics of the original 74 only plug, location, clear pic of the correct flashlight(as we call them up here)....particularly the business end...

It might be a nice retrofit. In my bav I used to have to change the carb cut off solenoid fuse in the dark at speed in a tunnel when the loose wires near the carb would flap around and hit a ground causing a stall. It's always handy to have a flashlight when piloting a vintage vehicle.

Cheers
A

I have an original grey one somewhere and if I can find it I'll post some pics. It's out of my '74 CSa/now a 5 speed. Not sure if the "a" matters but...

Is the plug in charging 'socket' different then the more readily available 'modern' (if you consider the 80 to 90s modern) torch?

I haven't got my coupe in front of me. Where exactly in the beer holder compartment does the charger plug go?

Veering off topic slightly...I see 3D printers have reached the 1000 dollar mark! I probly paid more for my first 2 megabyte digital camera.

i wonder if the electrical ends of the light and the plug in the stash box are the same as the e30 glove box light.?
