For over 30 years, Jenny Morgan has been heavily involved in the BMW community. Over the last few years, she has run into hard times and is now, literally, living in her car with her dog.

I'm asking that we show some community support and get this lady's house back for her. If every person on this forum contributed $20, it would solve this issue. Please donate as much, or as little, as you can afford.

Wow; this, right in my backyard happening to someone known to me... Whatever the circumstances that took her here, she deserves some help. I just donated and encouraged others to the same.

Just donated

She alluded to her health problems in her columns several years back. That was pre Obama care. Someone needs to help her sign up for Obama care if she has not done so already.

She is over 25k right now, so that is great.

A big thank you to all who have donated. We are nearing the initial goal, although I hope to see the total continue well beyond the stated need.

I spoke to Jenny today and she is overwhelmed by the support being shown by BMW enthusiasts around the world. We've seen donations up to $250 from Australia, for example. We've also seen donations of $5, which is probably the most fantastic of all, because those are people who are not flush with cash, but have the empathy to want to help. Thank you all, please keep it up!

I'm a sucker for someone in need. Been ripped of by countless panhandlers who took my $10 bill and headed straight for the nearest liquor store.

But, for once this looks real, so I donated a little something.

Brett, thanks for cluing us in on this. Does the larger CCA community know about this (e.g. are all the CCA chapters getting the word out)?

Bfeng, I believe the gofundme page appeared in today's Roundel Weekly email. The sudden influx of donations today with comments directly referring to the CCA implies that word is spreading through that channel.

The parts that gets to me is that she would work if she could (and did work for a long time).
It's wrong IMH(& biased)O that incarcerated felons are guaranteed free health care, three meals a day, and free gender changes and our govt doesn't take care of the working man (woman is this case).

We can certainly make a difference as a community but perhaps the more senior CCA members can get businesses that we give our hard-earned dollars to daily to help with the cause. Perhaps someone at BMW N.A. should be informed what she has done for the community. Perhaps Tomkinson BMW or Walloth and Nesch, Turner Motorsports, Bavarian Autosport, VSR, La Jolla Independent, Coupe King, etc.....can lend a helping hand as well!!!!

That is great that this forum and others have helped this worthy person reclaim some dignity. There are so many others sadly. Glad to help out. Hopefully this type of sad situation is not spreading in our current economy.

Keep it going!

Although the $35K "target" has been met, in order to NET the $35K she needs, the appeal needs to raise a little over $38K since GoFundMe takes about 8% of each donation in fees.

What? Are you saying someone is making an $8% profit to help Jenny? I might understand a 1.5% to 2% charge for use of credit cards, but the other 6.5% is going someone's pocket, right?

That pisses me off, and yes I should've read the fine print as I would rather have just sent her an envelop with a cash.

Anyone else feel this way about the gofund site?

This is the first time I've used it, I figured there is some profit involved, depending on their deal with the CC company then they are clearing around 6% for their margin. Not sure if that is reasonable or highway robbery compared to other charitable fund raisers.

I can't speak for the others, but Mario Langsten from VSR did give a generous donation.

Credit card fees can be 2-3% of that amount so it doesn't bother me.

8% minus the typcial 2% CC or paypal fees = 6%.
$2k as a fee for getting Jenny money ... okay I'll back off as this is still better than something like Western Union.
