Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anybody knows until which year (vin number) these chrome wiper jets were used on the E9 before being replaced by the black plastic examples?

Many thanks in advance.

Philippe,

I have a '70 2800 and the jets come through the grills, I have a '74 and they are black plastic. I have never seen the ones you have- may be something that appears on European cars... DeQ?....

Both your cars are lovely, I'm interested in the fuel filter holder on the carb model. I also notice the extra heat shield on the exhaust side with the cut away for the air heater. I did the same on the one I'm rebuilding now. The engine compartments on both cars is stunning. I hope they don't stay that clean :-)

Welcome

Mine is '72 and has black painted metal ones. I've never seen those, perhaps aftermarket?

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the input.

I'm breaking my head over them since I received the cars. Stupid thing is that these are installed on the '72 Csi while the '71 Cs has normal black plastic examples. You would expect that these Chrome jets are featured on the earliest examples. I thought of switching them to the Cs but first need to find out if these indeed were the Standard jets with which the E 9's, to a certain date, were factory equipped.

Peter if you need better pictures of the holder I'll gladly make them but I couldn't tell you where they came from. As far as the engine compartments are concerned they have to stay that clean. i only drive them when I'm 100% certain not to encounter any rain. ;-)

Those are not BMW parts, most likely added by a prior owner. If BMW they would be in the parts books.

Maybe kasbatts could post pictures of the ones installed on his car. Chances would be slim to encounter them on 2 E9's if the are not BMW related.

If I'm not mistaken I once read a search thread on the German E9 forum of a guy specificy looking for such jets.

Peter what type of jets are coming through the grills of your 2800?

I am reasonably confident that they ARE BMW parts. I have a complete set that I rescued from a breaker many years ago. From memory they were on the headlight washers.

Thanks for your picture Quincey.

Are these the same jets as the one I posted? Always a tricky thing trying to identify them on pictures.

obviously not, ha, ha,

my "jets" are much simpler, a primitive version of water spraying hoses, they are located in the water box and the water comes out from the hood grilles, there are no holes in the hood, just the hoses coming out between two of the grille slats

Hi Guys,

This morning I send the picture of the jet to Wallothnesch and got a prompt reply. "Not original".

So I guys this solves my problem and I just need to replace them with the normal black variant.

Can't but wonder who ever went to the trouble of installing these on the Csi.

W&N are very good but NOT infallible. So take "Not original" as a maybe.
there are two part numbers for the washer jets as follows:
61661353768 chrome
61661354822 black
The spray nozzle also mentioned and pictured in an earlier post has a part number
61711810760

Thanks for the input.

Only seems strange that with so many E9 owners on this forum nobody seems able to match this to what they see on one of their cars.

I just had a look in 2 E9 Manuals. One from '73 the other from '75 each time on page 12 the classic back wiper jets are pictured. Would be interesting to know what type of jets are pictured in 70/71 and 72 manuals.
