Wiper jet question?

Thanks for the input.

Only seems strange that with so many E9 owners on this forum nobody seems able to match this to what they see on one of their cars.

I just had a look in 2 E9 Manuals. One from '73 the other from '75 each time on page 12 the classic back wiper jets are pictured. Would be interesting to know what type of jets are pictured in 70/71 and 72 manuals.

in early years you will find the type of hose-jets that i showed you in my picture
1973 was model year change

i know the '71 2800cs had the jets going thru the grilles (mine is a relatively late car ....487 - feb '71) ... i always thought that all of the 3.0cs had them on the hood.

mine is May 1971, and has the same setup

BTW, Philip, i do have a very nice parts list to share with you in which you can see all the references, send me a mail address if you want it

Hi Steve,

If I'm not mistaken what you posted are the jets for the headlamp washers, the winscreens jets are featured on the BMW catalogue page 61/13.

Hi Steve,

Really not sure. This is how they look going by the picture in the Wallothnesh catalogue. To me these look rather different.

Yes these are the ones for the e3/e9 headlight washers. They just clip into the plastic grille part.

my unattended offer of this parts list in which you can see the (chromed) versión listed too for #12:

BTW, here is a delicious picture of the nozzle showing up through the grille slats on a genuine 71 hood

a clean Hood face,..., priceless,

Hi guys,

With Bo's help I was able to solve my Csi wiper jet mystery.

Strolling around di his neighbourhood he stumbled over a parked Beemer and all of a sudden thought he recognized the wiper jets he saw on my Csi last Monday when paying me a visit.

Bo for sure has a good memory because he was spot on. Here are the pictures of the "donor car" he found them on.

Not standard issue for the Csi but at least they are original BMW jets.;)

Glad I could help Philippe.

One clarification however: I was not just "strolling around the neighborhood". Even in this area, people rarely leave a $2+ million dollar cars in a parking lot. This was the monthly Cars and Coffee gathering here in Palos Verdes. (not sure they have those in Belgium but those are weekly or monthly informal gatherings of people who have or like cool cars, usually on a Saturday morning from 7am to 9am. Fun events, no business dealings, just friendly BS'ing around "cars and coffee"...)

This event is usually full of Ferraris, Lambos and Porsches with a McLaren or two thrown in for good measure. This was the first time I saw that 507 though. When I saw those wiper jets I immediately thought of your car.

Assuming that they are original equipment of the 507, it is rather curious that a) your restorer in Hungary found a set of them and b) he decided to use them on a comparably lowly csi... Very interesting story.

Knew that of course, my kind of humour I guess.

We also have these Cars & Coffee gatherings but only during the summer months and with less high end cars.

IMO these jets were most likely used on other 50th and early 60th BMW's. I'll keep my eyes open from now on to see where I can spot more of the same.
