Triple Weber Side drafts

3 40 DCOE Weber carbs, intake manifold, throttle linkage, and some associated parts. Parts include electric fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel lines.
All of this was on a running car in the past year, carbs have less than 5000 miles use, and are clean as new.
Present jetting is for a 3.5 liter with a Schrick cam. I'm open to serious offers, I don't want to deal with Craigslist or Ebay.

With all due respect... What's wrong with a seller inviting you to contact and discuss price?
If you want these, call the man. Otherwise, just move on, no? The only legitimate whining I can see is from window shoppers and tire kickers who are looking for a steal. And if so and the price were posted we'd all be too late anyway. So, sometime no posted price is better.

I may be wrong but the rules for selling are simple, conveniently numbered from 1 to 4 and number 2 states to list asking price. The seller is accepting offers per his post which basically makes it the same as an EBay auction and parts go to the highest bidder which the classifieds are not meant to be. The rules are simple and meant to be followed by all and not by some. Seller has been in the business for many years and is aware of prices for items. It would be different if a member was new to BMW's and truly ad no idea of the value of his item. I guess what I consider as following the rules you see as whining.

In Mario's case, from what I know of him, I doubt he's trying to "high bid" this item, however there is some truth to other comments. After dealing with Mario I think he probably wants to speak with the potential buyer to be sure the set-up is correct for the buyers' car, then I would imagine his price would be decently below market value. Ok, what's the point? Maybe in a situation like this it should go under general discussion rather than parts, then everyone would be happy and we who don't know much about tripple Weber set-ups could learn some things-

Verde is right and that is why it is nice buying off this site as the price for cars and parts is right there in the open (Or should be). I'm sure Mario just forgot to put the price out there. I inquired about the triples and he was very up front on the price and didn't want me to throw a number at him first, so I will let him post the price or you can PM him and inquire but everyone makes mistakes and forgets all the rules sometimes, I am the first to admit I have inadvertently made the same mistake, distractions at home, etc..
 
As a moderator on Craigslist I've dealt with this over and over for 10 years...



Craigslist faced the same conundrum we do now.
It became such a problem that they made a rule:

"Please post a set price, do not solicit bidding...."

Makes life easier IMHO.
 
in defense of Mario - he accurately describes what he has to sell + he is a man of his word. i suspect he is trying to avoid the back and forth - he has a business to run. my guess is that the first person to offer a reasonable price will become the proud owner of desirable carbs.
 
Would love me some side drafts, I have regular webers now on my 3.0L and eventually will rebuild the motor.

Don't know prices, new to Bmw vintage.

Mario, I can offer $300, deal?
 
I'm with several others - love the triple sidedraft Webers on these cars. I had them on my '73 back in the late '70's. IF the current car didn't have injection, I'd be trying to negotiate with Mario. Full package is a great way to make the transition.

So Mario, after all these comments and per the rules of this site, why have you not posted your price for these yet? I know you are on here quite a bit. I am starting to think this was not a mistake. On other forums the Moderator or the Site Administrator would take down your ad immediately. Not deleting your ad makes other people feel like they can do the same thing and elliminates the point of the ads on this forum. It is a pretty simple rule but there for a reason. Can the Moderator and Administrators please take note of what I said and consider doing this more diligently now and and in the future? This has been improperly posted for a while now.

That's all fine and dandy but I still think that people should follow the simple rules of posting prices with parts and cars or what's the point of having the rule? And then to follow up....what's the point of moderators if they don't moderate the threads? This just encourages more people to post stuff with no prices and shop the best offer. That is not what these forums are for. All due respect Chris. I'll tell you why later in person why this ad in particular was important enough to say what I'm saying.
