Anyone know where this web site is now, it's now a Chinese? gambling site, and was my inspiration for building my car, especially some of the interior mods.
Very useful for explaining the details to trimmers ect.

Cheers. John

Thanks Chris, I'm sure I would not be the only one to use it as a resource for inspiration and ideas.

Cheers. John

Warning!

This was the source of my infection. August 2000 Roundel and the Paul Cain 3.8 CSi website captured my imagination. After that point I HAD to have a coupe and then I wanted it to be as nice as Paul's. Some parts of my car (Carpathian elm burl dashboard) we directly inspired by Paul.

Well I got the coupe but was not able to get it quite to his level but that inspiration led me to meet other great E9 owners.

The net result is a very nice coupe in my garage.

Enjoy the infection, no known cure

...Thanks Paul...

Paul has the info but it's not hosted right now. I asked Dan G if he would host it here.

Hey, I kinda remember this now. Was I supposed to get some info or did I already get it? Hosting it here is obviously the thing to do...

Dan

I approached Paul about this several months ago. He said the website had served its purpose and that it was now an unnecessary expense. I explained that his work and the website continued to inspire so many people and that it would be helpful to the community. When we proposed the idea of asking Dan to host it Paul was flattered and said he had to collect all the info since it was scattered. Dan perhaps you would like to reach out to him personally and ask for everything you would need to host it on this forum.

While we are on the subject maybe it would be possible to reach out to some of the other artisan, craftsmen and individuals and see if they would also like to share some of their knowledge with photos of builds, tips and modifications.
It would be a terrific source of ideas, inspiration and help to fellow coupers.

That said I have no idea of the complexity or feasibility of this and of course some may claim the this would be giving up hard learnt knowledge and privileged information but at the end of the day we are all in this together.

Just a thought.

Cheers. John

More is more

I'm all for getting as much info on the site as possible. The leverage you can get from sharing is huge. Standing of the shoulder's of giants, as it were.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to host the contents of a website here, that's a question for the administrators, but I've kicked in my $50 today to help the site continue regardless of the inclusion of Paul Cain's information.

For a 'newcomer' like me, who is relatively new (well after a 35 year lapse) to BMW's in general and the e9 in particular, access to a storehouse of knowledge like Paul's web page apparently was, and a compilation of the later (and some still active) Do It Yourself guys (you know who you are!) would be invaluable. CERTAINLY worth a significant donation, and I will make one if we can get that sort of 'site' together for everyone's access.

Such a 'site' might reduce the number of questions that get asked by me and others - ha.

Cheers, and I hope you are successful Dan.

sounds like a good idea - how about the best of e9coupe / restoration specials ... all put together
- paul cain
- deQuincey's projects

Add to that, MANDATORY USE OF THE SEARCH FUNCTION prior to asking a question of the assembly. I won't say all the answers are there, but many certainly are.... like... howcum my coupe smells of gas...?

Yes, but people should first do a search on the use of the search function...

Just like in Computer Science to understand recursion you first have to understand recursion.

big fan of Mario's work and his advice, however he doesn't post that much here in regard to solving major or minor projects like Don + deQ does ... if people that have pics of work documenting Mario's work ... that would also be a good reference

Could I add to the list, if they would be willing to contribute,
La Jolla
Coupe guy
Coupe king
Cole @ Salinas

I know these guys make a living from their expertise but you never know they might be happy to contribute.

Cheers. John

I must confess to "borrowing" from the CoupeKing site a lot of the body reinforcement welding ideas and the design of the diff reinforcement components, and from Larsen the rear interior cross brace reinforcement.
If I lived stateside I wouldn't hesitate to buy from CoupeKing, ( I have bought some things from him ), but the cost of freight and the drop in the AU$ meant I could make them much cheaper here.
In my case it's difficult to post anything that hasn't already been done. DeQ on the other hand keeps pulling ideas out of his hat and sfdon generously contributes his hard learned knowledge.
Meā culpā, I am a plagiarist.

Wow / thanks

All,
thank you all for your kind words on the 3.8csi and site. It had been 14 years of paying hosting fees. Chris had mentioned the gracious offer to move it over.

I'm in the process of trying to locate the last host(er) and unlock it for transfer.

Hopefully soon.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Paul
