Batmobile for sale in Texas auction

there is a number missing from the VIN. 2275_25. the VIN picture is 5525, which would make it a BAT 1, but that isn't a '74 because the VIN would start with 4355xxx

73?

The car was built in October of 73 and apparently not sold for almost a year.
So the auction listing may have it a bit wrong. They might have done better to list it as a 73.

If sold in Europe in 74 most likely titled as a 74, they don't follow US in this regard. Shame it has flag mirrors, they should be Traps in 73.

Yes, Athena, Italian delivery, has a June '72 build date and sold in '73 so titled and registered as a '73. Easy enough to change to trap mirrors, though incorrect, I prefer flags, they are easier to see with.

Base of trap mirror is smaller than flag so may be paint marking issues when swapping so not that easy unfortunately.

I have flags and they are more practical but traps look better imho.

Yes, the car was purchased by a dealer. they plan to keep it for a while in their inventory and then re-sell it later.

What did it sell for?

When I go to website they say there is a problem assessing results.

Why not sell this beauty (with no reserve) at one of the higher profile auctions?

Same question I had! It's not like it was some mystery car that everyone knew was a fraud. The seller resides in New York and shipped the car to Texas for an auction? Doesn't make sense at all.

Is the sale price public knowledge - didnt seem to be on the site. Odd behaviour indeed though but was some other nice stuff in the sale!
