What is the deal with the trophy points and what purpose does it serve?

Just a feature of this platform I assume.
They should put one for "trophy wife" ?? Pics could get a little crazy 
I can only assume that it is something that I will excel at, regardless of my extremely limited first hand knowledge of BMW's. I look forward to being rewarded for time spent on the computer instead of in the garage. 
I can change "Trophy Points" to say "Random Number" if you'd like. There's an explanation of it somewhere but that would mean I'd have to look for it...
Just curious if it served a purpose. Thank you.
