The above wheel is for sale. It is from my 1973 Csl and comes with the correct hub and original horn button. It is in excellent original condition without defect. I am using an Alpina wheel in my car instead.
Price: 2800., I know ouch, but try finding another like this

If I owned a CSL I would gladly pay this price. Am surprised you are letting it go. I have this exact wheel (38cm leather with correct stitching, long hub, phillips screws) and it is a religous experience to hold in one's hands.

I suggest the bolts are wrong. Petri wheels sold in Europe did not have Phillips (or pozidrive.) bolts. They had allen key bolts. Well the three Genuine Pertis that I have do anyway! Looking at the reflection off the spokes they seem to be a bit, well, not quite straight.
At this asking price I would want perfection!

According to HansW they came with both and he said the phillips screws are rarer. I've had 3 original Petris all with phillips.

If the bolts are wrong you can always offer him $2799.43 and go to the hardware store and buy the correct style bolts.

This is, as I said, an original 38cm Petri Csl wheel with original bolts. There are no bends in the spokes and in fact, it almost lacks some patina for it's age. It's the real deal! Chris, I do have too many wheels, hence the thinning.

Ski coach, Would be great to see a pic or two of your CSL

hi i am interested in CSL wheel
it is leather?
it is the longer CSL Hub?
PM me
Sincerely Daniel

Here are a few shots of the car. It won it's class (100th anniversary of BMW) at The Quail this year. Obviously, the wheel in the car is the reason I'm letting go of the Petri. And yes Daniel, it is leather and has not only the correct longer hub but the original button that accompanied the wheel. All authentic and correct. If not sold, I will post better pictures tomorrow

original csl wheel should be 40cm

I think the leather CSL wheel is actually 38cm. From a forum member. BTW the Alpina/Momo wheel mentioned below is the one visible on Ski Coach's car...

From 3/71 on, the Petri sports wheel with satin chrome spoke and imitation leather foam rim was available from BMW in 350, 380,400mm. The 380mm with real leather/hard rubber rim came in service in the fall of 1972 for the CSL to replace the Alpina/MOMO wheel that had been in use up to that time in the early CSLs. Parallel to this, those Petri wheels were also available aftermarket in satin chrome or with matte black spokes.
Hope this helps...

Gerrit

Very unique strutt bar. Seeing this version for the first time. Great pics, thanks. My Petri is 38cm with leather too.
I'm surprised that you are selling the original wheel (at whatever price) being an original part that came with your low mileage original CSL. The Alpina wheel is very cool, but..... with the direction the CSL's are heading, hope there are no regrets along the way. Extremely few CSL's left with literally, their original delivery, parts.
Petri's keep coming up for sale, a unique part original to the car will never be replaceable. My humble opinion.

Sale Pending.

I just have too many unique wheels that aren't being used. I will one day pass this car on to my son with the Alpina wheel and no one will know the difference given it's Alpina history.
