E9 Advent box

While my kids get to dig into their Advent Calenders every morning to plunder the chocolate within, I was feeling neglected as an adult deemed too mature to enjoy such treasures by she-who-must-be-obeyed. So I decided to try looking through the box of parts that arrived with the car to see what little presents could be found.

Today's surprise:

To a Canadian, used to living amongst hockey players missing their front teeth, this tends to look normal. However, on closer inspection, it is missing one of the black metal strips.

Has anyone tried to make a replacement , or is grafting from another host necessary?

I having a feeling this advent box will be moments of elation replaced by the knowledge that if the present was going to be any good, it would have already been on the car!

That is the absolutely BEST PIECE to have in a car owned by a hockey addict. LOVE IT just the way it is!!! Might lose a point or two in concours, however - unless the concours takes place in a hockey rink.

Today's surprise was this:

No keys. Not quite round from being dropped so many times I guess.

Anyone tried to take these apart?

I've never taken one apart but my old one would lock/unlock with a bent paperclip.

Cool idea. I have some stuff that came with my car I haven't looked at in two years. Who knows what treasures I may find.

I also remember a post that said there should be two springs. This one seems pretty big. I can't imagine two behind the mirror plate.

Crazy season,
Back for some more fun in a box:

Only have two. Seem too long or too short for the door panels.

Could they be for the rear seat panels? The previous owner did not keep the textured upper portion of the panel, so there is no obvious place to install it.

Score! Just about everyone wants those. They appear in three places. It definitely looks like they are for the rear quarter panel cards. You have one more spot to try although they look too long, the top edge of your armrest. Once you find the spot don't just jam these in there. The door panel actually has holes for the tack strip. You need to remove the door panel and poke some new holes into your refinished faces. I snapped a pic of the backside in that "chrom trim" currently in the FS section.

So now I'll just have to find some door cards with the proper textured top.
