the engine undercover
a simple piece of cardboard
if anyone wants to offset my cost
ill make a cad file and send it to you so you can make one
right!

That ought to last a month or two.
I paid the price for an "original" from BMW. And still have to coat the inside to keep fluids from eating it up. But it is not cardboard, came with the original clips and is the last original part I needed. If you order one, open it at the dealer. Some come through cracked or broken. Steve

I meant a homemade cardboard one. I've seen the real part and it is much more durable.

If you are competing in concours class, it would be simpler to put this piece on than to clean the bottom go the engine etc!
Great strategy!

mine came from wallys
it had the clips alright
but i had to trim the front so it slid in the front nose slots
and underneath

I would think this piece would be essential if you were competing in concours. Unlike the elusive and mystical Blue Cloth, didn't all coupes start out with this part attached to the nose? And quickly discarded early on by dealer mechanics and others.

mine came from wallys.
it orig w/ clips
it is a type of paper board i cut w/
diagonals and a mat knife.
to slip in up front it was a bit long
you would have to set a piece of strip
metal to get the center inset that goes up

I figure a piece of plasticish rubberish about 30x21 x 3/16 inches will be enough?with a few openings for oil drain and power steering pulley?
I was interested in it for the cooling and aerodynamic benefits?
Very sorry I am unable to help you finance it.

im kidding
it very easy to make
thats why i got it ,to keep the engine clean and aerod.
dont forget the holes for the tow hookups

Besides the engine under cover, can i add to the list of "uninmaginable expensive' parts this one: the ratchet for the Emergency/handbrake part number 34411151769?

It is a simple, stamped sheet metal part for an amazing 101,29 dollars !
I think it beats our red screwdrivers. Perhaps I should start collecting these instead....

Number 10 in drawing....

I'd suspect that the steel it's made from is not just mild steel. It's likely hardened so it can take the wear. Not a deal breaker, but you have to duplicate all characteristics to have a successful part.

there is another absurdly priced part, the small rubber profile (18cms) that goes in the curve of the front wáter box, two pieces one LH other RH, i recall it was something like 32 euro each :-O
