Is this an original front seatbelt mount?

I had two sets (belts in rear armrests, armrests with plastic parts for belts, wood with fabric hole for hook, hook etc.), dismantled from German market cars. So... pretty hard to tell

So US/NA and Europe both got the horizontal retractors in rear armrest in 74, these are very different on the RHD pics.

My 72 Csi has them installed there also but I assume it was done by the DOT when it was federalized in the early 80's.

Frank, is that a very colorful primer or is your coupe screaming for its original color to be set free?

Doug

Thank you Mark for providing a the answer to my OP! Much appreciated.
You don't happen to know if the hook part that attaches to the trim above the wood is available and where to source it?

Hi Mark (UK)
This is very interesting
It looks like the lower support is simply bolted onto the existing flanges on the inner fender and aft door support
It looks like the upper support on the aft end has a reinforcement patch welded to the fender arch
Not clear what is at the forward upper end
Would it be possible to provide closeup photos of these 4 attachments?
Thanks, Mark

Hi, the rearmost fixing for the thin diagonal strap is into a fixed seatbelt style thread that came as standard. The top end of the diagonal strip has a seat belt thread nut welded on the inside. this is where the hook holding the belt runner fixes to. the diagonal strip is also fixed to the black panel with two self tapper (shown on my pics)

the seatbelt retractor is fixed with the custom tophat shaped bracket at the bottom in custom drilled holes

wow, thanks!!
I can see that the loop would scuff the wood, I do have extra of the vinyl but not of matching wood parts
And when you stay standard for the upper rear attachment, that would be for a 74, I have a 72, so would have to add that
But the overall solution is very attractive

Sorry for the dual post! I didn't believe the first one posted. The front seat belts on my Swiss delivery CSL are mounted on the hat rack. I believe them to be original

I have a 72' not a CSL :( and it has the roof mounted bracket, the inertia wheel is on the floor (of course)

Roger,

Would a 72 have the roof mount bracket?

Chris

My ‘71 built in the summer of ‘70 doesn’t have it. I believe my ‘73 built in ‘72 has it. I’ll verify on mine, which doesn’t answer the ‘72 built in ‘71 question. Anyway, you can feel it underneath the headliner if you apply pressure by the grab handle.
