Question: Is Polaris the most Popular Color?

This is morphing into another paint color topic, one that has been discussed here before I believe. Which colors show off the classic, timeless lines of our coupes better? I remember suggesting the lighter colors like Polaris(mine of course) and all the variations of white, light blue. However a friend has a respray in the original color Granatrout(spelling!!) on his coupe. The new paint has transformed his car in my eyes.

So what do you think? Or is this old news?
Granatrot. Thanks Steve. The 21st century paint formulation has a lot to do with the color. The original granatrot seemed to be a little lighter (still visible on a few places on my coupe.) Yappy Hew Near!

Hmmm, the next logical step before getting tarred and feathered maybe.
Please go for it Arde. I have not laughed this hard about something I love in a long time. And I do have to agree about the Pink Spark Plugs and Liberace. A man not know to be shy about his taste. And remember, in spite of the Rococo sets and personality, he did introduce classical music to a segment of the American Public that would never have tolerated it anywhere else. I am old enough to remember his show. What a strange period in modern American history.

We await the next barrage.

OK, without naming any names we can start with the "voulture" owner profile.

An affable character that once blended his coupe ownership experience with a healthy curiosity for other coupes available in his vicinty.
The pride of being first to a barn find, helping a lurker find an entry into E9s, and why not, the secret vanity of seeing people buy into worse cars than his at higher prices...
As barn finds dried out, junkyards now start with 1990s cars, and characters like Don Lawrence use drones and AWACs to identify shells and drivetrains from hundreds of miles away, the ante has been upped.
Yes, Darwin knew about evolution, but would be stunned by the speed this specimen evolved.
Survival based evolution takes hundreds of years, obsession based evolution takes a year or two, and you heard it here first.

The American Psychiatric Association classifies owners that score above 50 points in the test below as "voultures":

1o points: Search once a week Craigslist in your area for the following tags: BMW, E9, 1972, 3.0CS, RUST, Barn find, Coupe, oldtimer, Bavarian.
10 points: Recognizes the M30 engine sound a block away, asks the kids to stop screaming to make sure, does a U-turn to find the source.
20 points: Uses Google Earth to scour driveways for cars that look like E9s.
10 points: Checks the Cars for sale on this board on a daily basis.
10 points: Checks ebay for E9s for sale and cross posts to this site.
15 points: Does detecive work to determine when a car for sale last sold, for how much, and complains if the car went up a lot or not at all.
60 points, this is a new phenomenon borrowed from rent controlled apartments in New York: Checks obituaries to see what good Coupes just became available. Sadly
this leads probably to the best cars.
120 points: Uses the old world charm of a coupe owner to sweet talk the widow of the Obituary coupe. This one is so worrisome that coupe owners are ammending their trusts
to read: "Do not resuscitate, must have HB Chris price affidavit to sell coupe".
