I am redoing the interior and noticed that the interior
chrome is damaged. Does anyone know of a suitable
replacement that can be used?

Thanks,

No

I don't.

But.... you can take some stainless steel-backed or aluminum-backed tape and carfully lay a strip and it might (depending on how closely you look) be good enough.

This is a trick from 2002 days where the door panel chrome would peel off the strip. In that case the tape, carefully cut to size and applied, would look just fine.

Rob, you do realize that you have responded to a post that is over 10 years old + one of the participants is no longer with us ...

Clayton machine doesn’t sell it directly . I just called them .but you can buy them from Summit Racing , Speedway ... they come in 4’ and 6’ for $37 or $53 retail ... I called again and asked .mif they are anodized or raw alluminum.
I was told they are raw and easily polished to a great shine !!!
I think I will give it a shot

Maybe I'm stupid, but how would you properly attach them to the e9 door panel? Glue?
I'm searching for something like this myself as I'm missing all my door panel trims..

My only beef is that perhaps it's a bit on the tall side? .25"?? I dunno, maybe it'd look alright.

It does look pretty okay in this picture, but I think it's recessed into the panel.

No what I would use is small machine or sheet metal screws depending on what tools you have available . In fact the screws will be more friendlier as originally they were installed with sliding thorn strips I call it, that you would bend after piercing the thorns through the Vinyle on the door panel cover. Which means you have to align them rights for the torns to go through the same holes as when you pulled them out (or if they fell off) . Original thorn strips are usually very rusted and break easily. I chromed my original ones and called on local Upholstrey Shop supplier and got some close thorn strips. It looks much better now but I will be trying some of these we all found today..

To install them I would use a thin washer with small sheet metal screws from inside (hidden side ) of the door panel. I will drill proper size holes on the alluminum strips with a drill bit limiter not going too deep into the metal .
I see these strips as very good alternative as I suspect they will not be as flemzy and won’t dent as easily as the original. You can sand and round the edges as you please and polish it . If you would like to go further you can have them chromed after shaping the edges the way you like them .
Cheers and Happy New Year!

I believe the door trims are anodized alluminum like the exterior trims . However the are grooves and Thorn Strip (I call it) slide inside of them ....

Oh, I just noticed you had beaten me to it!! :):p:D. I guess I was overzealous to describe my plans I had in mind... reminds me of the Fed Ext TV commercial ... “.... let’s ship with Fed Ex and save 10%....”
the 73 CSA I bought in June didn’t have them I had to jumps hoops to pull them
Out of another car (in construction) and straighten and polish them chrom them and go find Thorn strips and they look much better ... but I am confident these will be better.

You may be right but have in mind these have to be drilled to accept screws and the holes have to have some depth enough to let the screw have enough threads to grab them properly. I think once the are thighened they will be just fine as the sponginess of the panel cover will hide some of the depth ...

find some old ones here
i know somebody bought about 20 door panels once as a batch

the best way to do it is have them repolished.
stick on tape is a joke in my opinion
this isn't a beat up truck
its a coupe -do it right and be jhappy mine is all brand new because of it.

I have been looking since June! I had two of mine, deanodized, polished and Chrome. They look much better but it’s hard to take all the bends and dents out of such a flemzy Aluminum.
If the original piece is found that’s is great , tach strip( or what I call Thorn Strip) is readily available from Automotive Upholstry suppliers..
