NMNA - 38cm Petri - ebay

Seller is JohnP_02 on the 2002 forums. He buys and sells lots of wheels.

Looks to be a 2002 hub. E3/e9 hubs have 3 holes at the base of the hub. 2 for the horn contact mounting rivets and the other one for the horn button wire.

yep, but at least it fits on the splines. you can solve the horn contact mounts with a drill.

Yup. If you want to be all period correct, the Petri horn ring is held in place by steel button head rivets.

Only problem is the Petri contact ring is unique where the mounting holes are on the inside (of ring), whereas all the other BMW or aftermarket contact rings have outside mounting ears. The Petri horn contact rings are unobtainable by themselves.

Hang tight ;)

FYI - John isn't a member here but he shot me a PM on BMW2002FAQ. He said that he is a bit flexible on the price and folks are welcome to email him at: [email protected]

Hmm... nah. Think “the one on the left” will become a family heirloom.:p

How about the left one :)? That won’t qualify as a family heirloom!

I’ll stand in line if that’s an option.

Hi all,

I couldn’t let you have all the fun discussing my wheel without me. This 38cm Petri I have for sale is 100% original. The wheel, horn ring, BMW horn button, hub and hub cover are all original Petri pieces. According to my research it’s a very early version that has a lip at the seem of the vinyl, which is chipped in one or two spots, however the grip is very firm and still retains a great texture. It’s actually one of the most study Petri wheels I have ever had. It’s not perfect of course, hence the price, but it’s a great wheel that is getting more and more difficult to find nowadays. Yes, the hub is the size for an 02, but it will work on an e9 ofcourse, you just need the horn ring. I am willing to sell it for a special forum price of $750 + shipping - firm. Please email if you have any questions. John
