Chrome window sills and stainless door sills

For what it is worth the rear (crescent tip) exterior chrome pieces are individually fitted to each car. If you planned on re-chroming them and use them on another E9 , do your fitment first (filing the rear perhaps) before sending them to be chromed. They are solid brass. For exterior pieces try to save the clip if they are not rusted out. I have not been able to find replacement yet for the clips. Do not worry about trying to remove the rubber from the front squeegee. Most,if not all chrome shop have chemicals harsh enough to desolve the dried out stuck rubber. As is hard to do by hand for no good reason....
Both top and bottom rubber are available from W&N and BMW . However squeegee velvety felt is not. so you have to either use your old one or go with something generic!

The tip of the curve edge whee it meets the drop rail had to have been individually fitted on each car at the factory. Here is how I found out:
In process of cleaning up the 73Cylon CSa I bought in June I decided to Change the pitted chrome and some of rubber parts. I had previously Re-chromed a set I pulled off from my Polaris 1971 2800CS. When I tried to install them they didn’t fit. I check the other side same result... it was slightly too long at the tip. It needed to be shaved off (filed off )some of the newly chromed, I put the cars original ones back on the car.
So if I ever decide to use these pieces from another E9 I would make sure they fit first and if not , do all the fine tuning and filing first before sending them off to be chromed!

Comparing the sets from both cars it was apparent that the tips were slightly different shape (only at the tip ) by millimeter or so.
I bought a second set of window chrome ”sills” for my car, as my old ones were pitted. Actually I think I bought that set from Bob here.
Those were a tiny bit different, but with some minor modification I was able to install them. But Tony is correct, I’ve seen some pictures a couple of years ago, comparing pieces from different cars, and the difference can be quite big, more than a couple of millimeters. Shame I can’t find that picture now.

Sorry Bob for the off topic, but it's worth mentioning that these pieces might not be "plug and play". As I previously said, the ones I bought fitted pretty good, but it's still a gamble.
