fs - petri 38cm

My 2 Cents worth..... the length difference between the 02 and the csl hub is definitely more than 6mm.
Both my csl hub and Cs hub are away but when I have them back in a weeks time, I’ll measure the lengths of those two.
My guess is that there is about/ atleast 6mm difference between each hub.

yes Keshav, between 02 + CSL is far greater dimension, the 6mm was between the 02 hub and the std. CS hub. seems like the CSL hub is 10mm longer than the CS hub.

I second the proposition that Dan's headlight stalk may be modified or from a different car. In Steve's picture, the left and right levers are about the same distance from the steering wheel. Whereas in Dan's car the left lever is very close to the wheel and the right lever is further away. Shouldn't these be "about the same distance" for comfortable operation while driving? Which is to say, one shouldn't require much longer fingers than the other. Just thinking out loud...

That’s about right Scott. I remember the difference between the csl and the regular hub at about 10-12mm too.
Will confirm exactly as soon as they are back.

What you say sounds logical to me, Stephen.

While we are thinking outloud...could you remove left stalk and carefully bend (heat and bend?) it to a more ergonomic distance? I'm not sure of the material of the shaft of the stalk...and I don't think anyone would ever know...

I am definitely starting to think I must have an incorrect headlamp stalk. Looking at the car a few minutes ago I noticed something else that didn't look quite right. I have a distinct gap between the bottom of my hub cover and the flat surface that shrouds the upper steering column. Just for grins, I put a pair of calipers to the gap and it measures 6mm. This discovery begs a couple of questions: do I have an E9 hub after all with a 2002 cover? Would an E9 cover conceal my 6mm gap? Does anyone out there have a 380mm Petri installed with a 2002 hub?

Dan,

I think you have a 2002 hub. Pull the horn button and snap a pic of the part number.

Also, snap a pic of the knob on the stalk.
It looks like it has distinct ridges. If I had to take a wild guess I would say it is from an e12. The knob pic will help.

Yeah, I do Markos. Just wishful thinking. What I need (other than a stiff drink) is to buy a correct headlamp switch/stalk.
Cheers!
Dan

e12 stalk on left is also turn signal, very different. Would have to be 2002 pre-74 if anything unless wires have been switched as well.

Here you have some photo's of Petri 38 with 3-ring 2002 hub - distance to steering wheel between both L & R stalks is the same & is more than enough for proper switching the stalks even in winter gloves.
I know Dan you are searching for a new stalk, i just wanted to confirm.

Thanks Wladek. Proof positive that the 2002 hub works perfectly in an E9 :D
