The very earliest fabric seats had no chrome trim strip on the back. Levers down low. Stitching on the seat back with no folds.

I think my notes above about the seats are valid. It came from someone who knows these cars well. What we don’t know is how long BMW sat on those photos before publishing. The levers moved by ‘71 so it seems. I’m not sure when europe introduced the 3.0CS.
 
interesting, the early 2800cs seats i had from the parts i bought locally were leather, they had the lever down low ... had the folds and chrome strip.

I only read this about the fabric seats, but I have seen identical seats in leather (but not factory ads)

I don’t spy any chrome here, but it is hard to say for sure. They did make the seats with chrome and no headrests. I have a set but they have factory chrome plugs.

i spy a little reflection on the side of the drivers seat ... but maybe its just the reflection of the leather.
 
Discussed before but it appears the seat trim and release lever changed to the upper lever at these VINs:

Lever ..................Trim
2800CS 2204275, 2202845
2800CSA 2221339, 2220847
2800CS/USA 2270349, 2270071
2800CSA/USA 2280369, 2280069

Very few US coupes without the trim as it was introduced later in the US than in Europe.

(Why can’t we space numbers in tables as if using tabs)

I think with BMW you have to have a fudge factor of plus or minus 200 cars. :) I’m just happy that Chris was able to throw some data at this one.
