Bmw car club in the uk is launching something called the shark nose collection, which aims to raise the profile of all those pointy bmws up to E28. It launches on 8th April at the southern concours at Sherborne Castle. I've never been to a bmwcc meet before but I thought I might head down for this, weather permitting

No idea what to expect

Anyone else seen this? Or thinking of heading down? I'm two hours away so not very local at all..... but if there's a small crowd of E9s there I'd be keen to say hello

Hi Drew, weather permitting, I'm going. I went last year and it was a small do but a good turnout, the weather was fantastic which made it a good day out. You can visit the castle too if you want

I took the only E9 there that day. I will be leaving Burnham at 8am, (if its wet I won't be going I'm afraid, too much cleaning to do after a wet run !)

Mark

Cheers Mark, forecast not looking great so far. Will drop a line here if I'm heading down, if the BBC is being pessimistic, as normal

Need to clean the car first.....

Does anyone know the date for the Duxford Show? I am a BMW CC member but I have yet to receive details.

If your going to this event
Make sure your electric fan is working 100% and take a picnic hamper with loads of drinks , you will need it

That’s for your 4, plus hours of queuing ,
To get into the event/Bmw car club parking area !!!

Good luck !!!

I'd love to make this but if the weathers good I'll have to make the most of it and fix up and finish projects!

Am not going to Duxford , after last years night mare of getting into the event , after being stationary in the que for over a hour, ( then I jumped the que and drove into one of the two lanes) people had been in the que for over 4 hours plus and the car parking staff did not know they’re head from the arse , on how to deal with the huge amount of traffic flow of 5 long lines of traffic being bottle necked into two lanes to pay at the kiosk , then drive to the bmw stand

My 1st show this year is going to be on 22 April at Bicestor..
if it’s raining am taking the M3 saloon e36
If it’s dry , taking the E9

Weather was rubbish this morning, so bottled it. It was going to be a very mucky CSL by the time I got down to Dorset

Bicester or bust, on the 22nd

Duxford is Sunday 6th May, the bank holiday weekend.
Traffic and traffic management were dire last year. I am told that tickets are to be bought in advance this year.
I will let you know how the purchase process goes, if it is like the que management then I will change my plans and do something else instead.

BMW car club have announced the process to buy tickets, they did this a week or so ago.
Go to the IWM web page
Find the 6th May classic car event.
Enter code to get a small discount.
Pay and then prints the e ticket. This part should help heaps with entry. But if they want to scan each one with the usual vigour then a picnic will be required.
Then send IWM an email to ask for a parking permit!!!!! I will see if this works.
Then send the BMW car club local rep, George, an email so that he can plan how much space is needed.

Simple process, well almost.
I bought the ticket and plan to take the CSI unless dreadful weather.

Regards
Charles

Duxford - All went well
The ticket process worked fine.
The entry process was the best that I have ever experienced at any event and this includes Silverstone, Goodwood, NEC, Gaydon etc. I arrived at 9.15 and drove pretty much straight in, no delays at all. Whilst the numbers were down on last year there were still a few hundred cars on site.
Duxford even offered a special service for BMW and Mercedes owners, arrived between 7 and 8 am and have a dedicated entrance, you can't say better than that, however I took it easy and arrived a little later.

The other venues need to up their game

How many E9 cars turned up???

Last year only 2!!!!

If Duxford entry going to be this smooth, next year ,
I will attend !!!

Only the one E9, mine.
But several people who own them came along to say hi. Tony Wilkes also brought his E3.
Heaps of 02's and newer kit.

As for next year, if entry is not the same it will be better, or worse!
