I have 2 OEM radiators for my 73 CS Automatic. One has a trashed transmission cooler , the other has a trashed core. I want to make a hybrid of the radiators, join the good transmission cooler with the good core. Expected cost? Sadly few places left in Ma that do this and I think the remaining places know this. Some people capitalize on a captured audience.

Odds are they will want to work with the one that has a good trans cooler unless the tanks are trashed. Expect to spend $500+
New OEM is quite costly at over $600....

I got the old timer, he charged me 150 bucks to swap the transmission cooler tanks, pressure flush/wash and test. I was pleasantly surprised. He even asked if it will be a show car and got a dental pick and showed me how to straighten out any bent fins.
There are "combs" designed specifically for realigning cooling fins - and maybe detangling a wirehaired terrier.

Glad your radiator problem is squared away. Another, obviously obviously not original alternative, would be installation of a separate transmission fluid radiator. This would permit using other style radiators and substantially eliminate commingling of fluids should either system develop a leak.

I haven’t been over there in about 5 years because all the rads done there work without issues. The main repair guy was threatening to move to Fla back then so I don’t know if they still do the same quality work these days.
The only area where I found them to be less than great was a case where a thin gauge brass top tank needed some straightening. Their work left a bit of waviness. I shoulda taken the tank to a panel beater (once disassembled).
But the basics of recoring, redoing necks and drains etc without leaks was always done well.
I cut down an old feeler gauge to use as my fin straightener - surprising how often something gets in there and bends it up.
I viewed the fin straightening as a therapeutic, mindless exercise, somewhat akin to watching the first half of the Patriot's game..and it's what I did during the second half.
