Wait, so 5-bar black grilles are rare and spendy? I have one that came with my car. It is in absolutely terrible shape and have since sourced a 5-bar silver grille.
If it is actually a CSL grille then yes. Honestly though, it is beat up then it would be a lot easier for a CSL owner to anodize their silver bars black. If the bars are in good shape it is worth selling.
And is it spray painted or black anodized?

Neither. The black one I have appears to have a black plastic-like wrap around the slats. Perhaps it is not original. The kidneys are pretty distorted, too. Not good.
I need a good 5 bar grill if there's one around.
Someone took a polished one and wrapped it, similar to mid year 2002 grilles.
Electrical tape...
It could be the hard plastic covers from a 2002.
I think it may just be electrical tape that has hardened over time from UV exposure. Anyway, not as cool as the CSL grilles for sure. 
Update: My spare grille is sold and shipped.
