so ive found a good solution to the dings , small tears and holes in my black vinyl trim.
i had a small 1/4" tear in my side ac panel and extra holes here and there.
so you can set some por 15 with a small flat screwdriver in the holes or imperfections
a bit higher than the surface
then let it dry for and hour or two and you can mold it around like putty.
if need be it can be sanded, stained and it comes out neat.
some of my spots are darn near gone
also i used it to fill some of the big gaps and vinyl in the side AC panel screw holes as they
got messed up a bit from the multiple on and off.
ill add more in the morn to level it out on the side rip
you can just keep workin it to match the level and color as you can sand a bit
the four holes on the bottom are gone

Got any photos? I've always thought that vinyl work is one of the hardest things to do.

I hope to do a write up on this soon. There are some good youtube videos on it? to @dang ’s point, it is easier said than done.

I need to repair a 1” tear in my vinyl seat. My next door neighbor did this professionally for years. I warned him that I was restoring a BMW and would be coming to him for help. :D

Markos, waiting to hear ALL ABOUT vinyl seat repair, which my seats need a good deal of. So much that for a time I was watching craigslist for a used heavy-duty sewing machine. I used the wife's machine once and she claimed it got all outa whack, and never forgave me...

Keep you posted! Just waiting on customs ;)

so ill add more more small coat and smooth it out
not perfect but better that a tear.
the discoloration is the black dye drying

Great info, I too have spent hours on repairing the darn vinyl. Am intimately familiar with POR15 it wears will on my hands for weeks.

better than nothing
the key is sanding smooth
take your time add little by little
i was thinking if you had another piece of vinyl as it set maybe the pattern could be pressed into the semi dry material

The dash in my '71, 2002 has the usual crack just right of the gauge binnacle; it isn't terribly wide, but it's there. The POR15 is very black and shiny when it dries. I bet one could add some texture to it after it cures for a while, as you say. I may have to try that...
