Also I need the AC switches with knobs that go down the center of the vents. Would anyone happen to have these or know where I can get them?
If so, answer here or PM me for quick response.
Thanks, Gordon

Saw Prussian Motors has symbol-only AC control for 2800. Might need some cleaning and refurbish.

I have both of these knobs with the pointers in excellent condition. I'd like to swap them for the symbol only knobs in equal condition. Here's a pic of my center console with the Becker radio with the matching BMW knobs. I would also like to swap with someone that has the short symbol only headlight switch knob for my blank short knob.

@m73 has the AC decals which with some TLC can be correctly applied.....

and I can get you this one Incase you don’t find one locally

I have those decals also. I bought them several years ago for the blank knobs in my 2002. The USA dashboards have blank knobs and white lettering above each knob. I have a NOS 3 piece German dash w/o lettering that I thought I would use in my 2002 upon restoration. Now I'd rather work on all these details on my Coupe. Interesting how BMW had to put lettering on the USA models. Thanks for the offer to get that short knob. Hopefully, I'll find it state-side.

Hi All,

So from what Drew says can I confirm that European models including the UK, had knobs with symbols and the US had lettering and blank knobs (knobs with the dash indicator)? Is that correct?

I too have blank knobs and would prefer Symbol only knobs if anyone has some they want to sell.

Also can I just mention I'm still looking for an original air con cover for the right hand side of the car:

Thanks all. M.

I think in the US the lettering may have become mandatory by 1974 (the one piece 2002 dash Drew is referring to). Earlier cars had symbols here as well.

Just for the record, my '72 2002 that I bought new has the 3 piece dash with the letters, and the knobs were all blank. Then in 1984 I bought a 3 piece Tii dash directly from Germany and there were no letters. That dash is resting in the trunk of my '02. I bought a set of smaller early symbol knobs for that dash. But that project has been on a 25 year hold.

Can someone do me a favour and post some pics of both the types of A/C dash and control knobs.

I’m a bit confused now as to what I should have on my UK car.

(NB I’ve googled but seem to find any good pics).

thanks, m.
