I've noticed some of the signal lights have a one prong contact base using bulb #1156 and the other type has a two prong contact base using bulb #1157. Is there a cut off year? Waiting to read responses.

Have you looked at the parts fiche?
Without referencing a parts book I would assume they should be 2 prong. One for blinker/flasher, one for parking lights.
Maybe the one prong were for EURO since they had a city light?
My Euro CSi has a single filament bulb, they are only turn signals, not lit when lights are on like U.S. Coupes
So I guess whether single or double prong, the ground gets screwed to the body.

Yes, body provides ground. If you have a single contact it is a euro light.
Has anyone converted Euro single filament marker light to a double filament marker light to enable marker light to turn on when headlight is on as well as to enable signals.?

Most people like to go the other way and eliminate the marker- using the side lens as a signal only (puls emerg. flasher). I'm sure there are electrical gurus who can tell you which wires to use for each. Warning!!!**** NEVER take any electrical advice from me! If I offer electrical advice you will know that my dementia has reached a new level.
Going the other way? I was under the assumption that, at least in California, you had to have a marker light come on along with headlights being on?
The US lamps have two filaments and the parking light is on when headlights are on.

I'm batting .500, lost to a MIssissippi local yokel for going 65 in a 55 (but got out of it going on my record at the court hearing by claiming my 45 year old speed was inaccurate). Got off the hook after speeding and running a red light, pulled over by 2 cars, guns drawn, but they liked the car and let me go!

I've only been pulled over once in my E9 and it was for no real reason.
The officer just wanted to see and ask questions about the coupe. I was pissed off and flattered at the same time.

I can't imagine a sheriff stopping a car for the lack of what I call "parking lights". With all the vehicles on California roads that have furniture piled 10' high held on with bungee cords, missing lights, expired registrations, ..... , a well-maintained vintage car isn't going to attract a sheriff's attention (unless they stop you because they're bored and curious about your car). Heck, most officers were born in the 80's or 90's and have no idea whether parking light were even invented back in the 70's.
