I am really after the 17" barrels and what I plan to do is to have a set of TRX centers machined to accept the barrels. The machining is expensive so looking to go ratty and spend the time restoring the barrels myself. The new hardware alone is almost $300

Vince I don't want to go staggered. A local friend I never thought to ask just sold me a set orf barrels at a give away price and gave a set of TRX wheels. This may end up being a feasible project

Hi @Bert Poliakoff,

I’m just wondering if you know someone who has used RC090 barrels. I have e24 trx wheels on my coupe and RC090’s in the garage. The trx centers are a hair under 15” in diameter. The RC090 centers are about 15 5/8” in diameter. It looks like the might barely fit if you have a little over 1/4” of aluminum after cutting up the trx’s. I just recycled my 5th trx wheel a few weeks ago. :(

Another thing to consider. Trx faces are for the most part flat. The RC090 faces have a good deal of curvature to them to creat the illusion of a deep dish wheel while keeping an offset of 20mm. Your offset will be closer to zero, which may result in some poke on the front of your CSI.

If you have pics post them up!

I am using TRXs as I said. This is a conversion several machinists have successfully done in CA so we shouldn't have to cut the centers and lose offset worse case scenario I use spacers as the wheels look great and I will use gold plated wheel bolts The machinists in CA that are doing them are building split barrel wheels which cost over $500 a wheel throwing their prices close to $3K hence my brainstorm to use the style 5 barrels and my machinist is doing me favor. Between the cost of the barrels center finishing, I am not sure if I will paint or powder coat, polishing and new centers I will be in them a good bit under $2k as my machinist will use these to setup a program on his CAD machine. I will then sell my restored style 5s and be in these nothing more than the restoration `and purchase cost of my style 5s which will just about break me even

I don’t think you understood what I posted. Spacers would make the problem that I mentioned worse. Also, custom spun lips and barrels can have any inner diameter specified to match the trx face specs. At any rate, good luck!
