Remember the Bangle bustle? Surely designers achieve a position in their careers where they aspire to a legacy. Wilhelm Hofmeister is an obvious example of an enduring legacy. New designers arriving at BMW probably have to prostrate themselves before a Hofmeister effigy and acknowledge that the "Kink" is untouchable. As a designer who wouldn't aspire to such a legacy?
Unfortunately big fronts are in the midst of one of those periodic design phases that seem to have to occur ever so often. 1957 Chrysler 300C / 1959 Cadillac Eldorado anyone?
