Front Sidelights

Does anyone know........ when the headlights are on should the front sidelights (indicator lights) also be on?? I know they should be in park mode.....but was wondering if it cancels sidelights when switch is pulled out to headlight mode. My car is a Euro Spec.............but more interested in English or Australian delivered vehicles.

On my US spec '73, the side indicators light up when headlights are on.

Euro cars not so, they only come on when signaling. I’d think UK cars would be the same....

So my car should only have side lights on park mode......is that what you are saying???

Euro coupes have a single filament bulb so turn signal only and parking light is in H1 lo beam headlight. US coupes have dual filaments, one for Park and one for turn.

mmmmmm.........well my car has dual filament and 3 wires.......earth/indicator/park. Maybe it was changed over when it went to USA in 1983 (from Germany) The only reason I am asking is because I don't like the sidepark light on when headlamps are on as it detracts from the effectiveness of indicator light at night. Will check what statutory requirements are here (Australia) before I do any changes.........thanks for the info guys.
