There is a 1985 E23 735 just arrived at the Sun Valley (LA-North Valley) Pick Your Part. Photos aren't great but it appears to be a manual. The 1985 model came with the Getrag 265 (and Motronic Bell Housing). No guarantee the transmission is still there, and it will certainly be gone by the end of the weekend. But if you're in the area and can get there this morning, it's worth a look.

opportunity for the right person
Hey skk, I'm still learning. What is an M30b34 - is it that it doesn't have mechanical speedometer hardware? You're in Palo Alto, I work there (when there isn't Covid) Who do you recommend to work on E9s? How about body, rust and paint?

skk was referring to engine parts that the seller also has for sale. An M30b34 is a later, 3.4 liter version of the M30 that came in your E9 originally. Here's a good breakdown on the various M30 "flavors"...

Sorry, I mixed them up. My 71 2800cs has 9:1 compression I think. Still only 168hp - then again my 1.6 liter 72 fiat spider had 92 hp :)

M30B28V[edit]
The M30B28V version produces up to 125 kW (168 bhp) and 235 N⋅m (173 lb⋅ft),[3](p77) depending on the model year, carburettor and country. It has a compression ratio of 9.0:1 and initially used dual Zenith 35/40 INAT carburettors. The bore is 86 mm (3.39 in) and the stroke is 86 mm × 80 mm (3.39 in × 3.15 in).
This version has also been known as the M06 and M68, prior to BMW renaming it the M30B28V.

  • 1968-1971 E9 2800 CS
  • 1971-1971 E3 Bavaria — United States only

Nice! Same thing happened with my Fiat Spider, soon after 72 they went to a 1.8 liter 8:1 compression instead of a 1.6 9:1 compression.

would require checking as to what it really is. don't assume that its a euro b34 because they say it is a true euro
