I want to give myself a Christmas present and upgrade my exhaust. I have the base Coupe King exhaust, and LOVE the sound. The sound issues from prior post seemed to have healed itself. I asked Erik at Coupe King if he recommended something to add that would make it sound even better and perform better. He said with the stock engine, it could not perform much better, but he recommended that new headers and down pipe for $2600 would make it sound better. Curious your thoughts on whether this is worth it from your perspective. Am I just trying to make something better that is fine as is, just cuz?

Here's my current set up:

Thanks for your thoughts.

Scott, I haven't been reading the entirety of your recent posts, nor watching the all of the videos. But I think I recall some maintenance items you've been deferring.?. If that's the case, I'd recommend getting those items taken care of before buying headers (which are not needed nor will they make that much of a difference in sound). They may even degrade performance (torque). My two pennies.

Which set of headers, if my memory is correct Erik has two that he sells. One regular tubular set, and the other csl style tubular race headers?

Stay with small long tube primary headers. The guys that worked for Stahl are still making them I think $1100 The large 2" ones will definitely lose torque.

Bert - Coupe King offers a 1.5" setup which they refer to as mid length.

Can you link the the Stahl guys?

How much is KK? 1.5 is good. You aren't building a monster so mid length will probably be the same as the Stahls. I don't have the contact number but I did talk to them several years ago and they popped up on google when I was searching Stahl . After Jerry Stahl died, hoping Judy Stahl had a few she would have a few left over that she would sell cheap. Guess where that went. I have a ratty set that I am hoping to find someone to copy one day. But see if you can find the Stahl guys. It will give you an activity

Hi Scott, I do like the 2 into one set up on the CK system as if you add megasquirt you can have an O2 sensor reading on both banks. All that being said, the W&N is a really nice option in my opinion- not to take anything away from CK- they obviously have awesome product. I got my system SS from the manifolds back which fit perfectly and run around $1K from W&N ...

Thanks. will they fit what I have now easily? Will it make it sound or perform better?

I have their exhaust already, so I think the additional cost to go to their headers was $2,200.

Hi Scott, Chris seems to know what you have now (I don't). On my 2800 I put on a stock exhaust from W&N and I was very pleased with it, it sounded good, fit correctly and was affordable. I put the SS system from W&N on my current coupe because I was running a funkinstein system that I put together from an old VW I was working on... It actually sounded like a VW! The W&N SS system sounds better with each additional excursion as it seeme to be breaking in. Also the tune from Don and Drew didn't hurt the acoustics
