My’73 CS came with vinyl, as a take it or leave it choice. Imported to Canada, would leather have been an option? My understanding is that just over 30 cars were delivered. Would a dealer even place a custom order? Just curious. Thanks

My 1st e9 was a (bought in 88) Canadian delivered 72 3.0 CS (Ceylon/black, but tragically repainted maroon by a PO) and guess what... it had vinyl seats. I still remembered how slippery and uncomfortable the vinyl felt

Thanks. I guess I got comfortable with the vinyl over these many years. As the original owner, I guess I must be a purist at heart. Do you still have your CS?

I think the textured vinyl looks great, and is seen so infrequently in restored coupes. I particularly like the black vinyl seats in the 2800CS, and the caramel vinyl from the e3.

I’m learning so much from this forum. :) I had no idea it was called basketweave. This spring I will redo the foam in the sinking driver seat. The caramel colour with the blue on the e3 is gorgeous.

Technically I don’t think it is called basketweave, but it is similar to a woven herring bone pattern.
