What is my e9 worth these days/

It's spring and I'm thinking of parting with my '72 3.0CS. So I'm wondering what it's worth in today's market. Nada.com says $14,100 - $51,500. My recollection is that Nada may be conservative in its valuations. What other sites, and ways, are there to correctly value an e9?

Hagerty's Valuation Tool is usually close...

For a 72 CS they show 137 for Concours, 106 Excellent, 60 Good, 32 Fair

Actual sales this spring seem to be topping those numbers. Either that or Good cars are being presented and sold as Excellent, Excellent as Concours.

Wow. That is a huge difference from Nada's values.

Condition, condition, condition...as always. And presentation. A few cars lately have perhaps been presently so well, that some of the details were overlooked or ignored. Demand is way up as well, which tends to whitewash or sugar-coat problems to some extent. I don't think there has been a better time to sell. It may even get a little better. I've always had the theory that our coupes appealed to a similar demographic as 911's, and as they became stratospheric, they pulled our values up for the folks that can't justify P-car prices and parts to restore and maintain them....Chris and Dick's suggestions are excellent tools. If you want an honest, sometimes painful assessment from a peer group, post pictures here.

Got some pics?

Could be $15k, could be $150k.

Ok, here are some quick pics.

your car looks like a 5000€ car, but it is your fault, not his fault

just before hitting me, let me explain, my “superexpert” eye sees that your car has been driven and enjoyed, but at the same time it remains pretty unmolested keeping many original factory elements, and that is valuable

i will not discuss about the possible rust, including the exhaust and the broken indicator glass

it will be nice if you can remove the seat cover, and clean the interior, the upholstery and the paint, clean the tyres and make new pictures in a nice lonely road,

you would add between 25 and 50k€ to the final price

IMHO it looks full of potential, it is up to you

is this the car in your avatar?

Original Turkis? Can't tell in those garage photors. Turkis will add some $$$ if that's how it arrived.

Different car ... the one in my avatar is a 2800CS I no longer own. If by
"Turkis" you mean color, my 3.0CS in the pics is Fjord Blue: the original color, but not the original paint.

I agree with deQuincey. You have some work to do and you need to spend a little money to get the most out of your car. At the very least, call Carl Nelson and get a new front indicator lens. It will take less time to install it than it took to 'fix' it with that tape. Two new correct mirrors would also go along way too. After that, just spend as much time as possible detailing all of it. Or pay someone to professionally detail it. Then take very, very good photos and lots of them. You will be rewarded for the money spent up front.

I think that the Polaris e9 (with the Poodle) that recently sold on BaT for a jaw dropping $145K is a great reminder for all of us that presentation is everything. A fairly mediocre coupe in my book but with outstanding pictures of every little detail.

Lol ... re: turn indicator, the lens was hit twice and I got tired of replacing it, so I cut a piece of yellow plastic (from a container for engine coolant) to hold the small amber lens in place. Yes, a new one is de rigueur before I seriously advertise the car for sale. $145K sounds pretty good.
