Trying to save transmission in JDM E30 touring. I am finding that these most of these units went in garbage after 5 speed swap.
I would also try an EH from an M20 5er.

Hi. I can look around.

Is you unit tested/proven to be failed? They are quite durable. I would rather look for wiring/connector issue but after so many years it might be also problematic.

Which version You are looking for (CZ as on picture or other)?
 
Are you looking for specific number/letter? I'm sure for E30 it was specific type only as far as I remember.

yes. the correct CZ unit is bad. I’ve run through all the zf Troubleshooting in the manual and the correct CZ is putting trans on FAIL mode.

I’m using an American version of the CZ but it doesn’t understand the 3 position rotary switch.

I think the ix has engine braking deceleration built into the MOTRONIC ECU. I like that.

But at this point I would try any M20 based electronic version. In fact I am very interested to know if the early 5er M20 automatic would work.
 
Nope. I can take from a colleague who was dismantling BMWs.

There is also for sale 325i computer but the price is sick: $300 for used computer
 
It is very easy to find such module from M30 engine cars like E32 or E34 below $100.

You can look locally for it for sure due to total cost issue.
 
I would take both (the ix and the 5er)of the price is low. I have e30 brochures to trade?

And perhaps, your friend would be interested in knowing if the ix/5er work in the E30.

I don’t think North America got e30 with the electronics.
I wonder what difference is of the Japanese version of this part. Throttle down?

I have the reverse image of these burnt into my retina
I very much like the EH sport and manual modes in the zf transmission
I still think it would be a good experiment to see if the 525 m20 tcm would work. I’d be happy to pay postage back just for the knowledge.

So please let me know what’s available. I will message you my Canada address.

I can get 325iX computer from my colleague (not a friend really) for $90 shipped to Canada.

For the 325i computer the offer will not change as far as I know but I can look for the computer here for You.

Are you also interested in E34 computers? I would need to check if they are from M20B25/20 motor.

Unfortunately I hace no idea about difference in Japanese versions - sorry.
