E3 vs. E9 Weight

You have a point there, but remember - this was the mid-70s. I can hear that E3 calling out to me from down the road in Albany though, so clearly I'm susceptible to their siren song. That's why I'm tying myself to the mast and stuffing wax in my dog's ears. He really likes riding in the E9. Just think how thrilled he'd be to have all that extra room and his very own door in the back (although I think he'd complain a lot about the b-pillar).
Do it for the dog....before the price goes even higher.

Or it could have been a Baader-Meinhoff Gang getaway car.
I did not know this existed - thanks! Maybe the extra weight is from rolled up Gerhard Richter paintings (counterfeit of course) of the gang members.

I had a mechanic once who was Belgian (well born there at least - he mainly grew up in central Texas), and he used to say 2002s were known to be the most popular get-away cars for heists. They were fast enough, tough enough, roomy enough and reliable enough to give most police cars of the time more than a run for their money.

Blegiumbarry - any truth to this that you know of?

The price has already gone more than high enough I think. Too bad (unless the seller gets that much for it I suppose). The dog agrees with you though. Of course the dog would trade a 10 pound bag of treats to be delivered tomorrow for one treat today. That's why I never listen to his investment advice on commodities futures.
