NMNA Lovely car should do quite well. Insert forehead slap here: car is clearly a factory 4 speed car but the description says “3 speed automatic”
Obviously it will get corrected and will not effect the final bid, but boy is that sloppy.

Just curious. What do folks think is holding back bidding on this one? It does have weird overspray in engine compartment.

Front floor pans look iffy:

Also, the spray bomb behind the glove box leads me to believe there's a rust issue there:

Just spit balling here:
  • Poor and random photo documentation - it's pretty incomplete and there are some really weird views. Behind the pedals looking back at the driver's seat?
  • Headliner discoloration on sun roof looks kind of scary. (Is that common?)
  • Description isn't very good (as noted by John above), e.g. "dark red paint." This lack of knowledge might make buyers wary in terms of how well it was cared for.
  • The tapes in the glove box - everybody hates Emerald Leap!
As Andrew noted, there's often a flurry of bidding at the end of the auction. The 3.2L 1972 3.0CS 5-Speed that sold on Dec. 8 went from $37k to $72k in the final hour.

I’ve noticed Since BAT was purchased by Hearst Auto that the descriptions have become pretty generic (and mistake prone) I‘m guessing for corporate legal reasons. Since the car has been repainted they won’t say “Malaga” in their description, so it’s dark red. Even the Tiaga coupe is “Metallic Green”.

Claiming original paint is discouraged. A very rare 1952 Ducati scooter sold on BAT this past weekend. Sold by a well known scooter restorer/collector. This Ducati had 366 original miles, the seller was absolutely sure the scooter still carried its original paint. But his BAT “advisor” told him that since he hadn’t owned the scooter since new he could not claim original paint in the description. He did in the comments. So that absolves BAT against a buyer claiming non original paint or the color doesn’t perfectly match Malaga, Tiaga etc…

That said, the Ducati Scooter was at $7k up until the final day and sold for $26k.
So I suspect this “dark red“ coupe will do well on its final day.

i'm no handwriting expert, but I'm gonna go with "Emerald Seas." Man, I burned through a lot of TDK 90s in my time.
I was unsure - your guess is clearly better than mine. Sometimes Maxell, Sony and Fuji also for me. Always 90s, never 120s! Was it Teac cassettes that looked like mini reel-to-reels?

nice thing about vinyl seats is that they show very little wear after years of use as opposed to leather.

Mine still look awesome!
I like them too, I was thinking that leather might be a preference for the new e9 buyer

Maxell UDXLIIs was my preference. I bought a few boxes of Sony Metal Masters on deep discount - ends up they are worth $50 each now!
LOL - I was a Maxell guy as well. That and Denon tape when I wanted to splurge (had Denon and Nak decks - still do actually - LOL)

Yep. They were cool, But you couldn’t see them in your car’s tape deck. Ah The Fabulous 80’s.

I wish....
I have a 1000II and a couple of others... I have them out in storage. When I get my loft finished, I will drag them out and put them to use. I had a BX-100 back in the 80's and used it till I gave it away in about 2000. Should have kept it. LOL
I have a couple of nice Teac R2R's as well. :)
