Dated 10/69. I can`t imagine why it existed.

hahaha, just to brag.... i wonder who would dare to drive 200 km/h with a street E9.....

PS not me.

Obviously was not fitted in the car originally !! But it must exist for a reason ?

I think someone has modified it, never seen one with an orange needle. Typically they match the lettering color of white or ivory.

200 km/h?.....no comment ;)

Believe I've seen those 300km/h speedos placed in Alpina or period tuner mod'd cars. Along with the matching 7K redline tach, but not certain.

The only 300km/h speedos I've seen were in RSRs and 930s. Likewise Alpina coupes but not until mid-'80s B7 or B9 turbos.

So was it in a race CSL? Seems most likely to have been modified if so... need the part number to know more.

Alpina hand built 27 engines for the Group A/ BMW E24’s, and sold them to various teams with great success, like the car in the link.
Off the 27 engines built only one (brand new) engine (no ECU, harness etc, just the block and head) survived which is the one in my CSL. I had to have a ECU & harness made as I wanted the Djet appearance……

no it was a street car but with just about every other Alpina option on it so I assumed this was another of them. I suppose judging by the date it was an original speed they had modified...just that I had never seen one before and am a little puzzled as to why they thought they needed a 186 mph speedo.....when the 150 mph one was more than adequate ! Maybe just a gimmik.....
