I have 2 stalks for sale. [UPDATE; both sold]

Not entirely sure about pn's and function, but I've searched around some.
Pls add if you something in error.
And do let me know if my prices are stupid.

1st should be an e9 wiper and indicator. Needs to be mounted on the right side.
Number on the tape on the cable is 1357 016.2. It matches in description and function to a add from Rogerstii, who identify it as:
-indicator and wiper
- partnumber 61 3113 609 77
- used 10/73 to 11/75

Link:

And:
- it also carries a cast in number " 1 354 486". Not sure what it identifies.
- it is used, but the black plastic cover on the steel stalk is still nice (sometimes rust is bubbling below the plastic cover creating 'bubbles').
- it has 2 black wires going inside to the push button, it may even have a light inside ( as the icons seem to be transparent?)
- black plastic connector with 8 wires, still has the two clips, undamaged.
- additional light socket + bulb included.

Function:
The stalk has one up and one down and a middle position.
Button on the end is a push button
Pulling the lever towards you I think activate the headlights for a short lightsignal, as it is spring loaded and jumps back to normal position when released. ---EDIT: UPDATE 12FEB2022; its likely the window washer pump activation. Thanks @HB Chris ---

Price 95 euro. [Sold already]
Part located in NL. Shipping to EU between 7 and ~15 euro.
US about 22 euro/ 26 with tracking.
I have PayPal, and will accept USD.

Update: Sold - Stalk 2.

Has a white connector, with 8 flat (spade) female 6.3 mm connectors.
Number on the sticker on the cable is Z.B. 1363 640.4
Again I found a match at RogersTii, identifying it as:
- a signal and headlight dimmer.
- Part number would be 61311363638
- Used 10/73 to 11/75.

The stalk has no icons on it (anymore?)
On the plastic is a number '4455' and in a tiny circle ' 1 03 353 1"

Functions:
- Up, down and a middle position. Is has plastic pin that extends while up or down, but not in middle position.
- Pulling the lever towards you I think activate the headlights for a short lightsignal, as it is spring loaded and jumps back to normal position when released. [UPDATE: thanks to @HB Chris , this function is likely window washer activation ]
- pushing the stalk to the front clicks it in position there
- end of stalk has no function, it is fixed.

75 euro.
Shipping and financial details as above.

Never mind, my comments were for the pre-73 version of the switch!

If switch 1 is the same as the Rogers ad it is wiper only and both say 9/73 and on which is the facelift wiper only switch. I will check part numbers for you.

Right side stalk for turn and wipers is 61 31 1 351 852 and 61 31 1 355 322, post 9/73 is 61 31 1 357 006 and 007. Don’t know why there are two switch part numbers for each, euro vs. US I think. RealOEM shows superseded part numbers. 363 638 appears to be turn and wiper switch, pulling in activates washer pump.

I was also checking stalk switch PNs but according to my investigation most of them is not detectable by BMW part cat.

Not sure why is like that and what are the differences between other (very similar) from E10, E21 or E12 plus a bunch of E3/E9 types (even excluding pre- and after-facelift)

Interesting what kind of difference can be between US and other versions ... Has US stalk any text rather than nothing or mark?

US headlights were different from the rest of the world's. Both in type (crappy sealed beam) and in the way the running lights work. US cars have what we call "parking lights" in the front turn signals and the rear added-on side marker lights. They didn't have city lights in the headlamps. Also I believe our hazards are wired differently because of this. I expect this is why the switches are different.

The dip switch is different due to the use of H1 low beam vs. US H4 headlights but not the city light. I think hazard switch is the same but 2800CS is different from 3.0CS. It is easy to add a jumper wire to a US dip stalk to run an H1 low beam which is what I did, thanks to Terry Conners aka @srennoc.

Are there other Euro car makers that put the turn indicator on the right hand side during this era? I believe my father's Fiat wagon of the mid-70s had the turn signal switch on the left side. This is a bit off topic, so my apologies. I'm just genuinely curious as the only cars I've ever driven with the turn signal switch on the right hand side were early 70s BMWs.

On a not serious note, my wife and daughter love to wonder out loud if I'm having a stroke when I turn the windshield wipers on in our Subaru while trying to signal a turn.

Thanks for info. It looks like I need to compare electrical schematics a bit more detailed as it is not fully clear about stalk switch impact. For the first impression it should work the same despite different organisation of the lights on US and EU cars.

EU cars had:
- low beam and parking lights in the one reflector (2 bulb)
- high beam on the second pair (inner ones)

US cars had:
- low beam on the one (sealed beam)
- parking/maker on a sides (inside indicator front L/R)
- high beam on the second pair of reflectors (inner)

But maybe it is different due to permanent parking lights after ignition (in US) I suppose.

US sealed beam headlights used a two filament low beam with 55/60W. High beam was a single filament rated at 60W. When high beam is selected the 55W filament in the outer light goes out and 60W illuminates along with the high beam. Now known as H4 for the low beam and H1 for the high beam. The parking light is indeed in the turn signal housing with a two filament bulb making the base unique for the US. On an e9 the parking light is on with the headlights but this is not the case with all cars from this period, on my former 1969 2002 the parking light turned off when headlights were turned on but later 2002s were the same as e9.

If one were to use the H1 headlight with city light as a low beam on a US coupe without modifying the hi/lo dip stalk the low beam would go out when high beam is selected. The solution is a short jumper wire on the stalk to activate the low beam when high is selected. Probably more than you ever wanted to know I’m sure!

Not at ALL strange! I see this as a sign of the REAL enthousiast: apparently you drive your e9 often enough for it to be hard wired into your system.

I like that idea. This one is not all that often, but every time I do the turn signal habit stays for a while. I had an E9 previously that was my only car at the time. Lots of time driven with that control setup. I had a '71 2002 years ago that also had the turn signal switch on the right side.
