A bit missing?

Dear All just been looking at HB Chris restoration and came across a picture that shows some extra metal work in the trunk area? - the car is a CS - could this be a bit i have missed or is it another slight diff between CSLs and - CS cars etc etc....

My CSi does not have that piece either.

Oh how interesting. My April 1973 3.0CS does have that piece, identical to the photo above.

It is part of the 73 and after strengthening of the rear structure to meet DOT impact requirements of 2 1/2 mph, increased to 5 mph in 74.

I did weld an "L" shaped piece of rebar across the entire area for additional strength after reading about issues concerning cracks from the diff mount. Yea sure, the DOT was on my mind at the time.
