Door Seals ( worlduph)

They buy from BMW, they do not have any in stock but claim they can order passenger side which I don’t think is available. Driver side definitely not available.

Buddy of mine works at a dealer here in the uk and advised no UK stock with no delivery date currently from BMW.

Can't find any door seals all out of stock everywhere with no date that they will be returned to market and have been very stressful for restorations. If you are in need of door seals I have solution if your interested.

The set I bought in march was 1250.00 per side.
For a guy with a 150,000.00 car with no seals it was a bargain.

I got this. Solution for door seals is......buy a Zed1 :

Can someone explain this door seal scarcity and price for older BMW's in general? The production process must be costly since nobody has attempted to duplicate them. Just 5 years ago I got both door seals, both windshield gaskets from Stephan for about $550.

The E24 ones are around $400 a side now, not even sure if available. The E24 requires that the window has to slide over the gasket on the A-pillar to seal, so that lip gets ripped up and then you have an air leak. Newer BMW coupes have that window that comes down an inch or so when the door is open, slides back up into the seal when closed.

this UK company https://coh-baines.co.uk/ featured in TV show Car SOS here in Australia. . They specialise in rubber seals and state they can custom make too. I have been in contact with them and they need to see sample profile(s) to establish if they may have something available or the likelihood of making them. My door seals are installed so ideally perhaps someone in UK can assist ?... maybe @nosmonkey or @sandhu ?. Baines is located in Wigan. I can pass on name/contact details if someone puts their hand up . Thanks, Simon

I was told last Wednesday that door seals are expected in 2-3 months from our German sources.

My seals are fubar. However if @sandhu gets a set to them and they can do something I'm happy to distribute

Back in 2013 I replaced my door seals on my 72 Coupe with a part from an E30 part # 51-71-0-032-370 and 371 because E9 rubber parts were not available. They were not concourse and had some fuzzy bits to them but most people would not be able to tell the difference. My net cost from my local BMW Dealer was $81.06. I looked the part for the E30 up on RealOEM and they refer to part #51-71-1-876-151 and 152 at around $111. I still have the door seals on my 72 Sahara and am sure I had to do some whitling to get them to fit. IIRC I think they were for the entire opening and I had to cut a length of the black rubber because the E30 has a B pillar. Maybe someone with a need could order the part from BMW with the proviso that they could be returned if the new part # doesn't work.

Regards, Jon
