South Florida is now in the car show season. Sunday was warm and sunny for this event at Banyan Cay Resort and Golf Club. The 60 mile one hour drive was easy compared to 500 miles to Hilton Head a month ago. There were 125 cars and motorcycles on display on a damp, soft fairway split up into about a dozen classes. The entry fee was a $200 donation to a charity. The judging was "show-car" class and not very strict. When one of the 2 judges in the straw hat asked me if I wanted them to see the engine compartment,I knew my wet ice cleaning of the undercarriage was not going to be seen. I showed them the engine and trunk with all of the tools including the red handle screwdrivers. And of course, the 1:18 Minichamps Turkis model was on the back deck above the rear seat.
"The Turk" got a ribbon and glass trophy for "Excellence in Class". That's Palm Beach talk for 2nd place. The winner got "Best in Class". And that really was Best--a 1972 Ferrari Daytona that was professionally restored to perfection. All of the 1st and 2nd place winners in each class drove up to a spot where a gal in a fancy dress awarded the trophy while a bunch of guys was taking pics.
All of the entrants were really nice folks and we shared stories about the cars. One owner has a Polaris/red 1972 3.0CSA that was professionally restored along with a Z1 that took Best in Class in that class. Here are pics of the cars that got my attention.

 Congrats on the trophy Drew, and thanks for the photos. Hopefully this show will find a forever home, it's moved every year since it started.

Last year was at a mucky polo field in Wellington... they laid a bunch of lattice fencing for us to drive over getting onto the show area.

Banyan Cay is much nicer!

BTW, is the CSA owner a member here, and did someone else write his placard stating "M30 Inline V6 Engine" ? :p

Last year's Palm Beach Concours was also at Banyan Cay. I remember because they turned me away at the gate at 9:45 saying the fire marshal shut them down for being overcrowded.

Nice seeing how that place was renovated -- it used to be a dump. That whole area around Palm Beach Lakes is odd, had a huge amount of infrastructure built in the 60s starting when JFK was president (hence Presidential this-and-that all over), then nothing ever really got built aside the convention center which they ditched after a few short years, "leaky teepee" as they called it.
