Air damn destroyed

i am going to paint my 635 style dam, but not going to install it at this time. we have a lot of speedbumps in my neighborhood and even going slow i scrape the bottom of my 911's front valance all the time.

Why? If I did so, I'd feel good for a second, but then I'd need to drive 30+ minutes back and forth to get summer/winter tires swapped and other simple stuff. I'm just glad they didn't fuck up MY BABY worse. Fact is that air damn was super low and going to get further damaged anyway again. The day I got it out of the shop initially from Benny, I bottomed it out and got it fixed once, so it was bound to happen again. I can get it "repaired" for less than $200; it won't be perfect but no one sees it.
BTW, I put some packing tape on the roof, and it's fine for now. At least I can drive it, but dare not get it wet.

I fully understand your point. It is a pain for small villages, not only in US.

You will loose nothing to go there and kindly ask. It might be difficult to be patient if they will start to lie. But in such cases silence is the strongest weapon. Maybe they will brake somehow if you are a good customer?

For changing tires you can always organize change-tire-party with grille and good music. Your friends will help you for something to eat and it will be a great fun. There is a lot of people who are open to help with some mechanics. I'm pretty sure there is someone handy not far away?

Do you have mobile tire shops? I think there are common for bus and tracks. They have all machines on the truck and are really fast ... just an option in case discussion will be finished with fight.
 
Scott. Sorry to see your continued challenges finding even marginally competent mechanics in your neck of the woods. We have no lack of horrible mechanics out here in. New England. The only difference is we have enough that we can find the few real gems amongst the masses of idiots.

The reason to let the shop know about this latest f-up is to help the owner gain more self awareness …. Which is the first step to improvement. If you make it clear you won’t be holding him responsible for the financial side of his screwups, he might be more inclined to think about what he can do better.

Solutions:
(1) hire a good classic car mechanic to travel out to your area for a week, once a quarter. Maybe there are other owners in your area that would share the costs with you.this is not that uncommon. Take note of other E9 owners who bring in mechanics or ship their cars far away to reputable E9 shops.

(2) go do an apprenticeship somewhere that trains classic car mechanics. if you are too busy, send your SO (ex McPherson College).

That sux, but you should AT LEAST tell them! So maybe they can learn from their mistakes...maybe.

Get a CSL or an Alpina Group 2 front spoiler. I'm fond of the latter.

Second the CSL air dam from Mario at VSR1 - I have one and have been happy with it. So sorry about your experience with that shop Scottevest
 
Thanks everyone for your input. I am going to just sit tight sans air dam for awhile. If/when I decide to get one, for sure Mario at VSR1.
 
I understand...living in a small town is a symphony of getting along with as many people as you can. Restaurants, tire stores, grocery, etc...
I'm not defending them by any means, but crunching snow humps and crunching fibreglass do sound similar...If bad things do indeed come in threes, I think your quota is filled. Again sorry about the mayhem...

Stock bumpers without an air dam are much easier to live with. I am told with the stock setup the front end gets light at speeds over 100mph, and that the air dam helps with this, but I rarely drive my car that fast.
