What's the metal holder?

Do you know what is the purpose and part number of that metal holder/bracket?

Because it is part of the shell.

Isn't the tank that holds fumes until sucked through the charcoal canister and into the air filter housing a US only part? I thought the Euro coupes had a vent running through the trunk floor in lieu of this tank.

My early euro 635 has both. A vent line that comes out around the rear license plate but It's been years since I have done it, and the "fume" tank as well. The vent pipe was eliminated during the federalization, but since I don't have to get smogged in AZ, the smog stuff is gone and I am back to euro spec

For the first sight It looks somehow over engineered as for plastic tank holder but vibration can do a lot to make it flying away.
