I see people (family members) spend hours -all told - texting back and forth for something stupid that if they'd have a 2-minute telephone call would be settled straight away.

The conversation I'd have in person would be... "Did I loan you my torque wrench?" and you'd say, "That was five years ago!".

"Half a decade ago" is so much weightier than the more common "five years." Sometimes five years doesn't seem long at all. Five years is a tenth of the lives of our coupes. I've had mine for going on three years now? Hard to believe. And then there's the presidential election cycle. The whole process, from campaigning to the election to holding office is basically a five year period. How long those five years feel depends very much on whether your candidate won or not. I'm going to start saying, "well, there goes another half-decade" whenever my candidate loses.
