but seriously .... looking on the way the lamp is made it seems to be pre-E9 era (maybe BMW Bertone).

Was it part of extended equipment for some BMW models?

The lamp has been distributed as BMW "Sonderzubehör" means special accessories at least till 1969 as the lamp is listed in the shown brochure. But the lamp was quite common till the mid 70s also for other car brands. The maker placed the lamp on the market under its own name too.

Yes, this is a KACO lamp, or Auto Klemmlampe, a vintage German-made accessory.
They were certainly available through the 70s and appropriate for those BMW models.
