This will fit a 3.5" filter head either top or bottom bolted. It uses a filter for a Ford big block or a Fram PH8a $ 150 shipped CONUS

Hello Bert, Will this fit a 1972 BMW Bavaria with the 3.0 original engine? I like that spin on feature.
Thank you

Larry, hello

It depends on the size of your filter head and/or the canister . This will only work/replace a `can with a 3.5" diameter can. Yours may be 4"

Took your dimensions out to the garage and I have the (4) inch. Almost a good idea. Thanks for your time.

Stevehose as a hero again sent me thread/ ad from Ireland Engineering that has the adapter with your first oil filter for free.
Thank you for your interest.

Ireland says it fits 4” bottom bolt setups which is what I thought Larry has based on his description. Larry, the bottom bolt refers to the bolt going through a hole in the metal canister from the bottom into the housing.

As to bottom vs top bolt M30 oil filter housings.....

Hello All, My question to Bert was to the meaning of the Acronym, IIRC? I have rechecked my oil filter and it is indeed a (4) four inch with the head of the bolt at the bottom.
It is on my list of purchases which seems to grow larger every day instead of smaller.
Thank you
Larry Louton
